PDF files on Windows CE: an exclusive preview (continued)
But would you buy it? After using the evaluation copy of Primer, I think I know what to expect from the final product. I'm going to assume the speed issue is among their top priorities, so I'd expect the released version to be considerably faster. No speed demon, mind you, but you shouldn't fall asleep waiting for page two to appear. PDF files are large, so expecting a Windows CE device to display these files with the speed and finesse of our overpowered desktops would be foolhardy. On the other hand, without a significant increase in speed, Primer is doomed to be little more than a cool demo to show off to your friends.
Font control ought to be another priority. If Primer provides the ability to select those fonts that are used in the substitution process, and adds more intelligence to the automatic selection, readability will be greatly enhanced. Again, I expect this is on their list of enhancements/improvements for the first version.
But in the end, no matter what they do, they won't be able to adjust the screen size. For that reason, I don't believe this program will really be viable for palm-sized PC users, but users of H/PCs and H/PC Pros will surely benefit.
You've got a good start, Ansyr, just don't forget the question.
