Master dialup connections with DialupMaster (continued)
The "issues" or bugs that I can comment about relate to the "partial disconnect" problem I described earlier. Also, another problem I found is that the options you're able to toggle on and off such as Tray Timer On don't seem to hold your selections after the program is shut down and restarted (you'll also notice this when you reset your device). Once you restart the program, those options assume their default selections and you must once again set your appropriate options. This means that if you disable the tray timer and shut DialupMaster down and then launch it again, the tray timer is turned on again. This isn't an issue with the rest of the options in DialupMaster, just the options that you are able to toggle on and off in the pop-up menu.
And that's all I found that I can genuinely say is problematic with DialupMaster.
Nobody's perfect Nothing is perfect and there's always room for improvement. A feature I'd like to see implemented would be a log file of all connections which contains dates and times, the duration of each connection, etc. Options should include when to truncate the log file; it would be great if it could even automatically begin a second log on its own rather than truncating an existing one in case you require that. It would be nice if the statistics could even be viewed inside DialupMaster, or at least the total hours logged so far. As well, it would be nice to possibly include some sort of functionality to blend those statistics with some sort of calculator that can automatically calculate costs based on an hourly rate that you enter; that'd be terrific for wireless and/or international users.
The verdict With all that I've had to show you here about DialupMaster, you may expect an extravagant price. Not so; it's just $14.95 through BMT Micro. Of course, I already purchased DialupMaster but you may be wondering if I'd purchase again. I need just one word: absolutely! At $14.95, it's a bargain. Plus, free upgrades ensure that your license won't be obsolete in two months.
Though my review of DialupMaster may be convincing enough, I encourage you to take advantage of a free 15-day trial installation. If you decide to buy, simply register online with your credit card. After receiving the registration key, choose the Register option in the pop-up menu of DialupMaster once you've installed it on your device, enter your email address and registration key, and you can now use DialupMaster forever; no special installations to register! With all that it offers, it's a great value, especially when compared to similar products. At one point, only AppStudio's QuickDUN offered similar features, but at a similar price, DialupMaster surpasses it and I conclude that this is the best choice.
